Service Delivery - Care of older people
Logo - Help the agedAbout Help the Aged

Help the Aged is an international charity fighting for the rights of people to live life as they choose, free from the evils of poverty, isolation and neglect. Through our work in campaigning, carrying out and applying research, and in delivering community services we strive to reach and help the most disadvantaged older people in the UK and in the poorest parts of the world. We are outraged by the continuing lack of dignity and respect afforded to older people, often in their most vulnerable times, and by the age discrimination that pervades all walks of life, and which is still legal and accepted. We are detemined to change the big picture of policy and public attitudes and meanwhile we both provide practical help today and, through research, hope for tomorrow.

Care Services Improvement Partnership (CSIP) aims to help improve services and achieve better outcomes for people of all ages with health and social care needs. This includes children, young people, families, older people, those with mental health problems, a physical or learning disability, people with health and social care needs in the criminal justice system and those with housing needs.

Eight regional development centres deliver a broad range of locally andnationally agreed work. Our current national work programmes are:
  • Change agent team (focusing on older adults and physical disabilities)
  • Children, families and young people programme
  • Health and social care in criminal justice
  • Networks (including commissioning, housing and learning and improvement networks)
  • National Institute for Mental Health in England
  • Social care programme
  • Valuing People Support Team (working to improve lives for people with learning disabilities)
We are pleased to support this year's Guardian awards to help highlight and reward some of the excellent services providing care and support for people with health and social care needs.
